President Message

The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts – Saudi Arabia Chapter (SPWLA-SAC) is now an official body of the international organization to capitalize and support the local society with both technical knowledge and members. The SPWLA-SAC office consists of lead petrophysicists from Saudi Aramco and service providers. As Saudi Arabia is the leader in technology deployment in the upstream industry, our chapter’s role is to create venues and activities for knowledge sharing, training and development of our professionals, especially the young talents. These efforts will require collaboration and support from key players in the Petrophysics industry (logging and core analysis) to facilitate both funds and resources that will ensure success of the chapter’s main mission.
For 2017, the theme of the newly created SPWLA-Saudi Arabia Chapter is “Petrophysics: Harnessing Knowledge and Technology to Empower the Upstream Industry”, to enable disseminating best practices and state of the art technologies in Petrophysics. The current industry’s dynamic environment provides an excellent opportunity to promote our activities and show the impact to industry for effective resources exploration, optimal reservoir development, and accurate reservoir surveillance. These goals can only be met through collaboration, leadership and strategic planning. SPWLA is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the science of Petrophysics, through well logging and other formation evaluation techniques and to the application of these techniques in geoscience and engineering.
